Just for Fun

A few days ago, Iliya & I went out on the front porch and took a few pictures, just for the fun of it. This is called, "Study of Cute Child on Front Porch" (original, huh? :))

A few days ago, I used my dining room centerpiece as the subject for practice. Thought these turned out pretty neat.

Saturday

This past Saturday, I got to do something pretty cool! I've been participating in an online course with this cool guy and got to play a supportive role in shooting his latest wedding!! It was a long, exhausting day...but so worth it. I learned a whole lot - about my camera, wedding photography, and myself, as a photographer. And I SO appreciate being given the opportunity to help out as "second shooter." Here is his blog entry from the day, if you want to check it out.

Thanks, Michael!

Kristy & Natalie

Early last week, my sister-in-law, Kristy, shot me a quick email, to see if I would meet her & her daughter (my niece), Natalie in the park for a quick session. She'd had a cool idea for a Father's Day gift for Patrick (her husband, Natalie's dad, my brother-in-law...confusing enough for you?).

Anyway, the light was almost perfect when I got off work, so we met and shot some quick pictures on the campus of UA. I hope Patrick enjoys these pictures of his wife and two kiddos (yep, two of them! but you can only SEE one right now!). Happy Father's Day to him!

Delainey

Saturday morning, I met Delainey and her mom (with whom I happen to work) so we could capture some photos before the heat of the day set in. Unfortunately, at 8:30, it was already sweltering, Alabama-style...and we were all sweating within 15 minutes. Delainey was a trooper, though, and since we started the morning outside of the UA President's Mansion, I sincerely hope we didn't wake the president from his morning slumber as we worked to get 'Lainey to laugh!

Anyway, despite the muggy heat, it was a fun morning...and I thought I would share some of the pictures we took.

And after we finished the 'serious' stuff, we went to the fountain and let Delainey cool off!

Sarah & Brooks

My sister & her boyfriend were in town this weekend, and were willing to let me practice on them. We had a good time, and I've found that the real way to spot my weaknesses (strengths, too), and areas on which I need to work...is to just get out with my camera and take photographs.

With that said, if you live in the west-central Alabama area & would like photos taken (they're not professional, by any means, I'm working on it!), I'm always up for the opportunity to practice if you're up for having your - or your family's - photo taken!!

Something New (and an offer)

So for a while, now, I've wanted to try my hand at branching out to make new things - cards, invitations, announcements, things to frame and hang on the wall.... Some of these new things might incorporate photographs...but not all of it will. Tonight, I played around with a poem that Nathan & I love (takes us back to the "old days"of just barely making ends meet) and I think it turned out pretty nice (for a first time try!).

IF you read this post, and have something coming up for which you might need an invite or announcement or even a gift (I've made some calling cards, lately, that have turned out nicely)...shoot me an email. And because I'm still learning and need plenty of other opportunities to learn more...I'm not charging anything for these projects right now. For the most part, I need to build a portfolio and can only do so much for myself!

If you are interested, feel free to email me (MCBPhotos at bellsouth dot net)...I'd love to get the opportunity to work with you! I'm pretty flexible and willing to take on just about any challenge right now!

Germany 2006

In August, 2006, Nathan went TDY to Spangdahlem AB, Germany. I went along for the ride and we had the time of our life! I also had fun taking photos - again, these are unedited, so what you see is what you get! Enjoy!
